The district commissioner of Sipalawini, Mr. Osei Jabini, asked Stichting Corantijn for help in furnishing a space in the village of Snesikondre so that he can set up a department of Civil Affairs.
The need for this is great because the residents in the region currently have to go all the way to Paramaribo to put their civil affairs in order. People can no longer afford the costs of this journey. The consequence is that many passports and ID cards are expired, torn family record books and other matters that cannot be arranged.
In the meantime Stichting Corantijn has donated an all-in one printer, two desktop computers, three desk chairs and a touchscreen digiboard for this purpose. The latter is being used to provide information to residents through videos.
