Food parcels for Brokopondo

In the Brokopondo district, which is the size of the province Utrecht, villages are isolated due too heavy rainfall. Roads have disappeared and in many wooden houses the water level is one and a half meters high.

Allotments, on which villagers grow their food, are flooded, making food shortages a serious threat.

Septic tanks near the houses are running over. A very unhealthy situation.

Stichting Corantijn handed over 200 food parcels for families in the affected communities, to the Brokopondo district commissioner, Mr. Ludwig Mendelssohn.

Thanks to all the sponsors in The Netherlands who made this donation possible.
