“Makandra” is setted up

In the beginning of February this year the first shovel went into the ground to start the building of Stichting Corantijn’s “Makandra”. The name means liberally ‘Helping each other’. Items like children’s clothes, school items, children’s reading books etc. are being sold here at very favourable prices so as to make it available to less fortunate families. The turnover is being used to pay the costs. NO profit is made.

At this point the building process is in its final stages.
All inspections concerning the building, electricity, water etc. have taken place with a positive result. The waiting is now to be connected to the main supplies.

Two containers, which contain the interior fittings as well as the selling stocks, have now arrived at the container storage facilities at Welbedacht. Gradually the place will be fitted and stocked up.

In September and October of this year the final touches will take place and the official opening will be at the end of November.
