16.12.2011 Result campaign candle-grease

Starting November 2010 until February 2011 the New Apostolic Church members throughout The Metherlands collected candle-grease remnants for Stichting Double Positive.

Mrs. Ethel Pengel, who started this foundation, is HIV positive since 1983 and now supports other women who are in a similar situation as herself.
She teaches the women to make candles. The candles are being made in all sorts of colours and shapes and are being sold as presents. This provides them with a small income.
The raw materials to make the candles are however not available in Suriname.

Our cry for help was not in vain as the result was breathtaking.

We were able to ship 53 cardboard boxes with candle-grease remnants to Surinam.
As we write these candles have already been made and sold.
The profit of the sales have enabled a number of women to provide their families with food. Nutrition is one of the main objects that is lacking.
