17.11.2011 JSO NRW fires up Enschede!
On Sunday 13 November 2011 the Wilmersberg concert hall in the town of Enschede was host to a special concert by the JSO youth orchestra of the New Apostolic Church's North Rhine-Westphalia district.
Only a handful of the 850 seats remained empty.
Apostel Peter Klene (of the New Apostolic Church in the Netherlands) welcomed all guests in both German and Dutch; he was accompanied by Bishop Micheal Eberle who works in the neighbouring Münster area.
For the fourth and last time this year the JSO orchestra performed a programme named „Masterpieces of Classical, Musical and Film Music”.
The programme, which was performed by more than 100 musicians, opened with the overture „Die diebische Elster” (Gioachino Rossini) followed by such 'masterpieces' as Sympony nr. 9 „From the New World” (Antonin Dvorak) and „Suite from Star Wars” and „West Side Story”.
Highpoints also included the „EJT Concerto” (Ivan Karpati) originally performed at the European Youth Days as well as „Pirates of the Caribbean” (Klaus Badelt).
The programme was previously performed in Switzerland and at the Youth Day at Oberhausen.
The audience, which included people from all over the Netherlands as well as some „fans” from Germany, thanked the orchestra with a standing ovation.
This of course resulted in a few encores, which was welcomed by the audience with much enthusiasm!
There was no entry fee, but the JSO orchestra asked for donations for Stichting Corantijn.
This resulted in a total of € 3.900,00.
We would like to THANK the orchestra and all other contributors!
The donations benefit a number of projects in Surinam.
Stichting Corantijn supports the mental, social, medical and educational well-being of the local population of Surinam. The country is ministered as a missionary area by the Dutch district of the New Apostolic Church.
