15.10.2011 Third container loaded
The last few weeks we enjoyed some beautiful late-summer weather. Understandably, the weather expectations for 6 October, the day the year's third container was to be loaded, were rather high. Would the weather be just as beautiful as it had been in the days before?
The closer we got to 6 October, the worse the weather predictions became.
As always we prayed for God's help to be able to load all the aid materials in dry conditions.
Of course we have never been disappointed in this. And we weren't this time. Except for one short shower, we didn't have any rain in Benschop. Even though in many other places the rain kept coming, as a few of our brothers and sisters found out for themselves on the way to Benschop. Yes, once again people came from all over the country to help load the container, some of whom it took over 3 hours to get to Benschop because traffic of jams caused by the bad weather ………………… and here the weather was completely dry!!!
The container, which normally arrives between 8.00 - 8.30, did not arrive until 10.00 due to the same traffic jams.
The container we loaded today was funded for the most part through the project 'A 3rd container for Suriname - 2010'.
After enjoying a cup of coffee, everyone got to work enthusiastically moving lots and lots of boxes, clothing packages, beds, wheelchairs, chairs, bikes, school furniture, etc. to the container. Once there, several strong men fitted everything in the container so that no empty spaces remained.
We worked very hard, but also had a lot of laughs.
It's TERRIFIC to see everyone help with so much enthusiasm!
A 78-year-old brother from Groningen comes to help us for the first time. He prayed with us at lunch, expressing his gratitude for being part of the beautiful New-Apostolic faith, where so many people were doing their best to help those less well off. It was a touching moment for us.
We were once again blessed with a big box of fruit donated by the local grocery Versmarkt Jan Jongerius in Hilversum. Everyone took the opportunity to take a healthy snack during work.
And the same applies for the lift carts provided by our long-time sponsor Scherpenzeel B.V. They made our job a lot easier.
When we closed the container doors at around 16.00 we were incredibly grateful to have been to able pack everything with only 1 or 2 droplets of water.
Terrific!!!!!!!!!!!! God revealed himself to us in a great way.
We know that many people think about us and that many prayers have been sent up on our behalf.
We are very grateful for this form of support.
And let us not forget all those who took the trouble to help us with the heavy lifting.
So…………………………..a very big thank you from us!!!!!!
