29.09.2010 A cosy market day!
Shopkeepers of shopping centre Kudelstaart in the village of Kudelstaart organised the second edition of their community market on Saturday the 18th. of September 2010.
We, being Stichting Corantijn, joined their ranks.
In the weeks leading up to the event numerous creative spirits created various homemade articles to sell on the day. Everything was on offer besides food and drinks so as not to disturb the local trade. The flowershop of Joop en Ria van Leeuwen kindly supported us by donating a 50% discount when buying their plants. We thank them kindly!
The market stall was free of charge as was the used electricity. The eight free tickets we received to spend in the local cafeteria were considered a welcome bonus and a rare treat!
Even before 9 am Clara Anbeek en Marion van Berkum were already present in the marketsquare - supported by their respective husbands – and found the perfect market spot for their exhibits. The stall was placed in front of a glass façade with a overhead covering in case it would rain. The glass façade we used for a display of photographs and posters.
We decorated our market stall and by the time is was 10 am we were good to go. We enjoyed a lovely day in the sun with many informative conversations and a good turnout. Despite the fact that the newspapers did not pay any attention to the event beforehand we realized a nice turnover of EUR 199,20. Truly wonderful!
