23.06.2010 Result bus project Mr. Huber Stichting

Finally the newly acquired Nissan bus was handed over to the Mr. Huber Stichting on Tuesday the 22nd of June 2010!

Thanks to a contribution by NAK-karitativ, Stichting Corantijn was able to buy a new bus which is to be used for the transport of disabled children, who are under the care of the Mr. Huber Stichting. The previous bus was in such a derelict state that it was a matter of time and it would have broken down. And we really don’t want to burden the children with that.

This particular Tuesday morning was a rainy one. We quickly put up some decorations to give this event a festive feel. Because of the rain traffic in the city was heavier than usual, but according to plan we passed the gates of the Mr. Huber Stichting precisely at 11.00 am.

Immediately a number of curious colleagues came up to have a peek.

The documents of the bus were officially handed over by Marc Lucas to the Board of the Mr. Huber Stichting. They were very grateful and pleased and when receiving the keys promised to take very good care of the bus.

Many thanks were also extended to the Nissan company who contributed by offering to meet our budget and the AaBeCe company who offered us a nice deal to put up the stickers on the bus. After the official ceremonies we all went outside where sadly the rain was still coming down.

A short prayer was spoken by one of the caretakers of the Mr. Huber Stichting so as to ask Our Dear Lord for safe journeys for drivers and children on the bus, as well as expressing thanks to Stichting Corantijn, NAK-karitativ and the Mr. Huber Stichting management. The wish to continue this fruitful collaboration was also mentioned in this prayer.

After the prayer the bus was “christened” with bubbly juice and a short spin was taken, followed by the cutting of the cake. One of the pupils of the Mr. Huber Stichting celebrated his birthday and therefore his fun was doubled.

Mrs. Saliema Jahangier, managing director of the Mr. Huber Stichting, wishes us all the best and we parted company by giving each other a big fat brasa.
