20.06.2010 The NATSJ-home 12½ years

Saturday the 5. June 2010 the NATSJ-home existed 12½ years (well 13½ years to be precise). A jubilee that called for a celebration, a momentum not to be ignored if you will.

Sister Joke Daamen is the founding mother of the NATSJ-home. In the beginning she received a lot of support by: Stichting Corantijn - which at that time was called APS – by a number of very fit pensioners and especially by the Heerlijn family. In addition many supporters joined through the years, amongst others the De Graaf and Dunning families. At this particular moment, we, Marc and Ingrid Lucas, are running the day to day operations of the NATSJ-home.

Something which cannot be done without the support of the above mentioned persons and let’s not forget the sponsors of Stichting Corantijn!

Through the years we encountered an amazing number of events like a house move and a house restauration. It is really too much to recapitulate.

For the celebrations all the ‘aunties’ who used to work at the NATSJ-home and former pupils were invited. Unfortunately not everyone could attend, but more than half of them saw their way clear and joined us that day. Apostel Klene “coincidentally” happened to be in The Republic of Surinam and he was also invited.

The evening opening comprised of a prayer and Bible quotation by Apostel Klene. Evangelist Marc Lucas also contributed after which it was time to start the Sranan festivities.

Of course there was singing and dancing and let’s not forget food and drinks. The ‘aunties’ really put in a lot of effort and provided everyone with a drink and snack. It was a fun evening in which a lot of ‘catching up’ took place.

In two years time we will celebrate our 15th. jubilee. We hope to invite everyone back who used to work or live at the NATSJ-home.

GRAN TANGI !!!!!
