30.05.2010 Benefit concert by NAKed Religion

Sunday afternoon the 25. April 2010 NAKed Religion played a benefit concert in aid of Stichting Corantijn.

Some years ago the initiative was taken by New-Apostolic youths to play and perform music, which they love, but which is not necessarily customary within our church’s culture.

A band was formed which subsequently took part in the Search project of the European Youth Day 2009. A fixed group of musicians rehearses with great pleasure every two weeks at our head-office in Amersfoort. The band momentarily consists of a drummer, a pianist, two guitar players, a bass player and two lady singers. The technical and organizational support is given by the Mantel family from Amersfoort. Occasionally this family also supports the band by playing the violin and keyboards.

At the end of the season we wanted to play our music in front of a group of family, friends and acquaintances. In order to give it that little bit extra we came up with the idea to ask the listeners for a small financial contribution. We would then donate the gift to Stichting Corantijn.

The musical theme of the afternoon was ‘Heaven’. We performed various pop songs, traditional gospel songs and our own music.

A variety of pop songs was played, both sensitive like The Rose and Tears in Heaven as well as the heavier guitar songs by Joe Satriani. The gospel songs were a.o. Swing Low and Jesus my future.

During the afternoon Priester Scherpenzeel gave a presentation of the various projects undertaken by Stichting Corantijn.

At the end of the afternoon we were able to present him a € 300,= cheque.
