15.03.2010 Another container loaded!

Today the 11th of March 2010 with the help of many volunteers a new container was loaded with goods for the benefit of our brothers and sisters and fellow human beings in the Republic of Surinam. Beforehand a lot of work was already done by the many volunteers who come and help every fortnight at the depot in Benschop. It is quite an effort to prepare the filling a container with 74 cubic meters of relieve aid.

First there is the collection and transport to Benschop. Next is the sorting of the goods and making them into handy packages. Some goods like bicycles, sewing machines etc. may need some repairing or lubrication. When all of this work is done a container is ordered to be delivered on a certain date. In the meantime the search for volunteers to help with the filling of the container is in progress. As the truck is not able to come near to the depot all the goods need to be transported over the road for approximately 100 meters. Fortunately the many hands make the work lighter.

These many hands also helped us today as many enthusiasts made their way to Benschop. From all over the country 35 brothers and sisters came to help!

It is a very warming sight to see the joy with which this BIG TASK is being undertaken and it makes one proud to see this many brothers and sisters at work. Some of them have already reached the respectable age of 80 years old.

A great number of people got up really early today and travelled quite a distance before having to work really hard all day and travel back home again in the late afternoon. It is truly wonderful to be able to do all this together and to feel how Stichting Corantijn lives within them all.

We are also extremely happy for the excellent weather we were blessed with this day. Grateful that everything is kept dry and that this day took a wonderful course.

We all did it with great joy and pleasure!
