09.11.2009 Results O.S. Victoria library project in Asigron

The O.S. Victoria library was originally housed in a room without any glass windows. Instead the windows were covered with mesh, causing dampness in the room during rain.

You should know that rain in Surinam is nothing like rain in Holland. In Surinam rain pours down in tremendous torrents; during such a down-pour it isn’t even possible to see across the road!

Stichting Corantijn recently made sure the O.S. Victoria library was equipped with shutters. Shutters are glass panes that can be turned open and close a window. On top of that, the library is furnished with books received through the book collection, which helps the local children to develop their language skills.
