07.11.2009 Restoring funeral hearse in Alliance
The funeral hearse of the inland community of Alliance was in desperate need of restoring. While the chassis was still in working order, the top was completely gone.
Lead by the enthusiastic Mr. Glenn Stock, who is in charge of the carpenter's shop of the Mijn Droom (My Dream) foundation in Paramaribo, a team of street kids worked on restoring the funeral hearse. These kids learn the profession of furniture building, preparing them for the future.
The restored funeral hearse was transported to Alkmaar by truck and from there to Alliance by boat.
With the funeral hearse in working order, the remains of the dead can once again be brought to Alliance's beautiful cemetery in a dignified fashion.
